Features

Back to the Sea Centre:

Bring the kids and visit the Back to the Sea Centre booth on Saturday February 8th from 9am-6pm! There will be interactive fun for all ages including:

  • “Shell we Paint” For the younger kiddos, a shell painting program where they discuss the different types of shells found on our beaches, why it's important to leave shells on the beach (ex. for hermit crabs), and then a chance to paint and bring home an ethically sourced shell!
  • “Story Time with Sammy the Squid” For youngest kiddos, they’ll do an interactive story time dressed as a squid from a book called "The Pout Pout Fish". There will also be a kids carpet station for the younger kiddos to play and rest during story time.
  • “How Do I Float Demonstration” They will bring a floatation demonstration directed towards older age groups which is centered around buoyancy, density and understanding how some of the ocean's biggest animals can float. In this program, they will use household objects that mimic the properties found in animals to explain how sharks, whales, turtles, and fish can float in the ocean.

Discovery Centre:

The Discovery Centre will be bringing back their popular Discovery on Demand Exhibit and Aquatic Touch Tank for the kids to come and enjoy. This feature will be taking place 11am-4pm on both Saturday February 8th and Sunday, February 9th.

Saltwater Sean:

Sean McMullen is an underwater explorer & conservationist on a mission to see what lurks beneath the ocean, lakes and rivers to keep them clean. The main motive behind his project is to bring attention to ocean, lake & river conservancy. He takes everything he finds with him to show others that, what's beneath the surface, isn't always pretty. Be sure to stop by Sean’s booth to talk to him about his underwater endeavors and coolest findings!
